Who we are

CloseNest is made by Coopr Ventures Ltd, trading as StuStud.io, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10507837) at Greville House, 10 Jury Street, Warwick, Warwickshire, CV34 4EW. These terms are the agreement between you and us, and by using CloseNest you accept them. Write to us at hello@stustud.io, or find us at www.stustud.io.

What CloseNest is

A short daily check-in between two adults. Each of you answers a few quick questions; when you have both shared, you read each other’s answers. A weekly closeness question and a Sunday reflection feed Insights, the paid part of the app. It is a way to notice each other. It is not therapy, counselling, medical care or a crisis service, and nothing in it is professional advice. If you or your partner are struggling, talk to your GP or call NHS 111; in an emergency, call 999.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or over, and you must use CloseNest with one partner at a time who is also 18 or over. Whoever enters your invite code becomes your partner in the app, so share the code only with them.

Your identity

There is no account. The app creates an anonymous identity on your phone, and that identity is the only key to your history. If you lose, wipe or replace your phone, we cannot restore your identity or your days: there is no password to reset and nobody we could verify. Look after your phone and its backups as you would a diary.

What you share

You own what you write. You give us permission to store it and to show it to your partner as the app describes, and that is the only thing we do with it. Once you tap Share my day, that day is locked: neither of you can change it, and we cannot change it for you. You can delete your side of everything by deleting your account (Profile › Delete account); your partner keeps their own words.

Be kind. Say what you want with an open heart, but do not use CloseNest to threaten, harass or abuse anyone, to share anything unlawful, or to share something about another person that you have no right to share. We may close a nest or an identity that breaks these rules.

The subscription

The daily ritual is free for the first seven days after you pair. Insights needs CloseNest Insights from the start, and after the seven days so does the daily ritual: an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, at the price shown in the app. One subscription covers both of you: whichever of you pays, both of you unlock.

Apple bills the subscription to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, and it renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings under Subscriptions; Profile › Cancel subscription takes you there. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms.

If the subscription lapses, you each keep everything you shared in your own History, and the days from the free week stay visible to you both. Your partner’s days from after the free week are visible only while a subscription is live. Starting a new nest or deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel it with Apple first.

Changes and availability

We are a small studio. We may change, pause or withdraw features, and we will tell you in the app when something that matters changes. If we ever withdraw CloseNest altogether, we will give you reasonable notice so you can read what you need before it goes.

Our responsibility to you

We provide CloseNest with reasonable care and skill, as consumer law requires. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when you started using the app, for losses caused by something outside our control, or for the outcome of any conversation or decision you make with CloseNest’s help. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending things

You can stop using CloseNest at any time and delete your account from Profile. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we have to for legal or security reasons.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there, and nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms we will update the date at the top. Continuing to use CloseNest after a change means you accept it; if you do not, delete your account.
